Frost Like Ashes - Pure As The Blood Covered Snow
Pure As The Blood Covered Snow
Sounds Of The Dead

When one thinks of black metal, one thinks of…well, usually not of Kansas City. Let’s face it, when one thinks of metal itself, let alone decent metal bands, Kansas City ranges nowhere near the top five places to find it. But, there are anomalies, and Frost Like Ashes is one of those.

It’s really no big secret that Frost Like Ashes arose from the (ahem) ashes of Possession. However, that’s where the comparisons end, as this is a five-track auditory shot of black metal ambrosia. This is a very tight, well-produced and well-executed E.P., mixing elements of the old and the new of the genre into an extreme mix. I do want to say, though, that I didn’t like the cover of Black Sabbath’s “After Forever” as I thought I would, but that mostly comes from foolishly expecting a spot-on cover. That said, I would urge strongly (with a baseball bat) to get this E.P. Here’s looking forward to a full-length release…
