saint - in the battle
SAINT
In The Battle
Armor Records
2004

After the little misfire that was 1999’s The Perfect Life ep, the remaining boys in Saint very wisely brought back original vocalist Josh Kramer and added Jerry Johnson as a new guitarist, and went back to their metal roots. The result: In The Battle, their first full-length album in fifteen years. That’s a long time to wait, let me tell you…

Just by the CD cover artwork alone — the leather-clad band members in metal poses with a nuclear blast mushroom cloud rising up behind them — you can get a sense of what’s to come when you pop this sucker in the player. It’s like the last fifteen years didn’t happen, and they were just picking up where Too Late For Living left off. From the opening riff of the title track, the band pretty much rips everything to shreds with their patented Judas Priest-esque heavy metal thunder and Biblically-inspired lyrics, with Kramer’s voice never sounding better. The riffs are killer, the rhythms crush, and the pace never lets up. In The Battle is a smashing comeback album and a welcome return of the Christian metal masters…
