skillet - collide
ForeFront / Ardent

Coming off the heavy industrial rock of off Alien Youth, I decided to borrow Skillet’s more recent Collide from my cousin as well. Popping this in and pressing play, what struck me was the very noticeable change in style on this disc as compared to Alien Youth. Collide forsakes the electronics for more of a stripped down, guitar-heavy hard rock sound which, I admit, isn’t bad. Matter of fact, with comparisons to Three Doors Down, Disciple and Blindside, Skillet hasn’t wussed out on Collide. It’s heavy, hard and very passionate. Though probably won’t see a lot of play time personally, it’s still a good quality hard rock platter that will get listened to once in a while when I’m in the mood for something more basic…
